RegisterCommon questions
Can you set this up for me?
Yes. We can do this for business plan customers.
Please book a discover call or get in touch with your requirements.
What are refresh rates?
Refresh rates determine how frequently Feed Control checks your feeds for updates. A blog with infrequent updates doesn't need to be checked very often, whereas a frequently updated news site should be. A refresh rate of 1 hour means the feed will be checked every hour for updates. You can set the refresh rate per feed, but it cannot exceed your plan's limit.
What are max items in output?
If you enable feed generation for your feed, by default we will output the latest 10 items for the feed. You can increase this limit up to the maximum allowed by your plan.
How do email alerts works?
If you enable email alerts, Feed Control will send you emails with the latest feed items. You can set the kind of alert you want: email for each new item, or daily, weekly, or monthly summaries.
Feed expansion?
Many feeds contain a short summary in each feed item instead of the full article. When adding a new feed with Feed Control, enable 'fetch full text' to have the full content pulled in for each feed item. Feed Control can then send you the full article content in its webhooks and also let you generate full-text RSS feeds which you can subscribe to in your feed reader or integrate with your application via Zapier or IFTTT.
Webpage to RSS?
Do you want to monitor a site that doesn't offer a feed? Our Feed Creator application lets you generate feeds from web pages. These can then be monitored like any other feed in Feed Control.
Filters?
When you're only interested in feed items that contain a certain word or phrase, use filters. Filters let you enter keywords and URL segments to tell Feed Control which items to keep or ignore. Enable RSS generation and you can subscribe to your filtered feeds in other applications too.
What are templated feeds?
You can generate feeds on all plans using our standard RSS and JSON templates. On our Plus and Business plans, we offer additional templates for third-party news platforms such as SmartNews, Flipboard and MSN News. If you're a publisher and want to reach larger audiences on these platforms, you can select the appropriate template for each of your feeds to ensure your content meets the technical requirements of each platform.
Curated feeds
Sometimes filters are not enough and you'd like to manually decide which items from your source feed should be included in the generated RSS feed. In Feed Control you can put a feed in curation mode and then selectively mark its items as 'picked' for inclusion in the output feed. In this mode, when combined with filters, items that pass your filter rules will automatically be marked as candidates.
Integrations?
We offer Slack, Discord and Webhook integrations. Connect Feed Control to your Slack workspace or Discord server and set up feed updates to be posted in specified channels. Webhooks can be used to let Feed Control send new feed items directly to your application. Learn more...
Bundles?
Bundles allow you to group one or more feeds. Enabling RSS or JSON output on a bundle allows you to use a single RSS feed rather than multiple feeds in situations where that's needed.
Can you increase the limits?
Yes. If the business plan isn't big enough for you, please get in touch with your requirements and we'll give you more options.
